Giant Leap Motor Retention
The new SLIMLINE motor retainer:
It works on a similar principle to the Aeropac retainer, but features a retaining ring
that goes INSIDE the sleeve. The creates several advantages. It reduces the machining
costs,
thereby drastically lowering the price. The SLIMLINE also has less aerodynamic drag
compared to other retainers. SLIMLINES are designed and priced great for everyday rockets.
For minimum diameter and boat tails, they are unmatched!
All SLIMLINES have a spacer ring to accommodate KOSDON, Ellis Mountain, and Hybrid
motors too!
The matching SLIMLINE adapters are due out very soon. Like the retainers, these will be
black anodized aircraft-grade aluminum (6061-T6). The adapters will nest inside existing
SLIMLINES, but have their own retainers built-in. Finally, a fully integrated system .
Available for29-38mm and 38-54mm conversions.
| HOW TO INSTALL AND USE THE SLIMLINE: |

the retaining ring into the groove by hand. |
You can remove the retaining ring by lifting one end out of the groove
with a screw driver or pen knife. Then simply remove the ring by hand. It's that
simple!

flange that goes behind the aft centering ring for rock solid retention! You'll need a rear ring with a slightly oversized inner hole. These are available from Giant Leap. For minimum diameter application, flange can be ground or cut off. The 29, 38, 54mm versions have no flange. |

Slimline is the new standard in motor retention. The name SLIMLINE can be found at almost every launch site around the world. The classic Slimline uses the well-known snap-in ring to prevent the motor from falling out. It's an overwhelming success and will remain an important part of our line. But some flyers prefer a threaded-type motor retainer. To answer their call, Slimline Motor Retainers now come in a threaded version
but with an important improvement...This avoids the extra drag and added bulk of motor retainers with external rings. The THREADED RING is on the inside! With the ring threading on the inside, the retainer keeps it's sleek, simple design, and it's low cost. It lives up to the name.......SLIMLINE!!!
How does it work?
The Threaded Slimline is comprised of three things;
The base (retainer) glues to your motortube (you'll need about 1/2" of motortube sticking out). We recommend JB Weld. Then insert your motor and secure with the ring (or closure). That's it.
Once you get an extraction tool and a threaded
ring (closure) in a given size, all you need for additional rockets are bases

retainer that's shaped like a nozzle! The aft end of your rocket will
look like the real thing. It works exactly like the standard threaded
Slimline, except it adds realism and beauty to the look of your
rocket. The nozzle retainer adheres to the motor tube just like other
Slimlines.
Installation is easy - -
there's a built-in stop inside the retainer that butts up
against the motor tube. Just insert your motor.... ...and thread down with
retaining ring...and go fly. That it!! Works with CTI Pro 38 Motors!
System includes base, tool, threaded ring (same ring
and tool as used on plain threaded system). If you already have a ring
and tool, all you need is a base for each rocket.

Retainers Slimline
Tail cone Retainers give you a
sleek, low drag look. As with all Slimline Retainers, the motor is inserted into the motor
tube and then secured with a circle ring. A
great way to finish the aft end of a
rocket. Your motor tube is glued to the machined
grooves inside the tail cone. Use JB Weld or other heat-resistant epoxy. Will accept
Slimline Motor Adapters, too! The inside is machined hollow to reduce

There is a flange on the collar that will
attach to the lower centering ring instead of bonding to the motor mount tube.
12 stainless steel socket head screws and 12 threaded inserts are included. Like
our 29mm thru 54mm motor retainers the large motor retainer assemblies have
screw on caps for fast, tool-free motor change. Minimum airframe I.D. for the
75mm retainers is 3.875 inch and for the 98mm retainers is 5.000 inch.
